Why This Matters
Some states have already begun recognizing coercive control a pattern of emotional, psychological, and controlling behavior as a form of domestic abuse.
-
In California, the law now includes coercive control as part of domestic violence, recognizing patterns that interfere with a person’s freedom and well-being
-
Hawaii also defines coercive control as abusive behavior meant to intimidate, isolate, and control a person’s life and independence
These laws show that abuse is not always physical it can be emotional, psychological, and controlling.
But many states still do not fully recognize this.
That’s why your voice matters.
